We all need dreams to survive, Caxton. But you could have picked one that is a bit more realistic. Like rescuing Claudia Schiffer from Iraqi kidnappers. Repeating that GSM is toast does not change reality - not even if you repeat it every day. And the reality is that GSM market penetration in Europe is growing beyond wildest forecasts - England is now expected to zoom above 35% by year's end. Italy passed USA in mobile phone market penetration recently - on the strength of its all-GSM approach.

Reality is Singapore making another GSM expansion deal today - on the heels of half a dozen GSM expansion deals in the mainland China. Reality is China's only CDMA operator making the biggest GSM network deal in its history last week - only to be followed by GSM deals with an entirely new contractor, Nokia. I'm not even going into the half a dozen new GSM operator licenses in Eastern Europe this year - look it up on the net.

There is not *one* independent market research firm that would claim that GSM can't reach 400 million subs by 2005. The only question is whether it can reach 500 or 600 million.
