CNNfn: Digital Jam - Interview/calls with Bob Walberg of briefing.com Tech Sect/Reg Guest Steve Young, Bruce Francis 04/07/99 CNNfn: Digital Jam (c) Copyright Federal Document Clearing House. All Rights Reserved. STEVE YOUNG, CNNfn ANCHOR, DIGITAL JAM: We've got Bob Walberg of briefing.com with us tonight and if you've got a question for Bob call us or send us an e-mail. BRUCE FRANCIS, CNNfn ANCHOR, DIGITAL JAM: The number 1(800) 304-FNET. The e-mail address is digitaljam@mail.CNNFN.com. First call tonight, Shayn in Texas. Hello, Shayn. CALLER: How are you doing?" FRANCIS: Great. How are you. CALLER: My question is on Inktomi (URL: inktomi.com ) for about a 12 month outlook and then Oracle (URL: oracle.com . It has been beat down pretty good the last month. BOB WALBERG, CHIEF ANALYST, BRIEFING.COM: Shayne two good stocks. We think Inktomi is one of the better stocks in the Internet arena for the long term. The stock has made a nice run to a new all time high trading right around the $100, $105 range. I didn't see today's close, but this is a stock we think will be one of the long term winners in that space. We like it up to the 125, 130 area. Oracle, as you mentioned, really has gotten creamed here over the last few weeks. The stocks trading right down in the low 20s again. We think Oracle is a very good company, well managed and at these levels we think it's very attractively priced for the long term. So, short term you could see some additional price weakness to like 18, but longer term we like it back up to $35, $40. YOUNG: We're going to have the CEO of Inkomi on in just a couple of minutes. And who's our next guest? FRANCIS: Larry in Canada. YOUNG: OK. CALLER: Hello, Bob. WALBERG: Larry. CALLER: I wondered if you could give me your outlook on C-Cube (URL: c-cube.com . Its been beaten down quite a bit. WALBERG: Yes, sure. C-Cube is a chip stock that deals with the DVD industry. (AUDIO GAP) should. Although, again, there are some competitive pressures there. That's the reason the stock has fallen down recently, but we like it in that space. We think it's one of the leaders there. So, with the growth in the DVD players we expect C-Cube to post reasonably strong numbers in the stock to stage about a 20 to 25 percent recovery or rally over the next six to nine months. FRANCIS: While we're waiting to get to our next call, Bob what do you think of the PC earnings sector, as we've seen the first robins of the earnings season right now. We're about to get into those. What's your outlook? WALBERG: For the PC sector itself I think the fears right now is that the group is going to really have a difficult quarter and we think that's a bit exaggerated. First quarter over fourth quarter is often very difficult and seasonal weakness, but in general we think that we're only seeing a seasonal slow down in the PC sector and that the numbers should look relatively good going forward. So, we think overall the earnings numbers themselves should provide a good buying opportunity in the PC sector. YOUNG: We're going to go to Martha in Vermont on the phone. CALLER: What's the short term on Egghead.com (URL: egghead.com .. Thank you. WALBERG: Egghead is a stock we really don't like a lot. We think it's becoming increasingly competitive in that group into the auction space and in particular just in computer and computer equipment. So, Egghead is a stock we would be avoiding. We don't think it has significant upside. If you're going to be in the e-commerce area or the auction space stick with eBay (URL: ebay.com . FRANCIS: All right, Bob, we're going to have to leave it there, but thank you very much. Important earnings day. Good to have you with us. WALBERG: Thank you.
