Fez, thank you for many fine and informative posts.

re CNBC announcement on analyst meeting, a few points to add to your summary (compulsive note taker here <g>)

1. dell business fine

2. analysts should not make major changes to their estimates

3. going deeper into internet: gigabuys having over 100K visits/week; taking gigabuys international; 25% of revenue from internet now

4. will be sequential increase in demand in Q1. if competitors are not showing it, that is them, not dell.

5. no new announcements re sub1K

6. Y2K could hit big businesses, but small biz and govt will take up the slack. expect "buying frenzy" in 2nd half

7. expect more stylish, consumer friendly pcs this year. Apple gave wakeup call for this, and dell responding

8. high interest among analysts, more analysts there than ever.

comments from one analyst: dell is basically saying direct model best, evidenced by fact competitors trying to use it, but just doesn't work as well for competitors as for dell.
