Mr. Lee A. Baker reports
Westminster Resources intends to rationalize its existing producing natural gas assets to accommodate the company's expanded interests in the East Lost Hills, Calif., exploration program and the Berkley Petroleum Corp. operated San Joaquin projects. Westminster has entered into a letter of intent with Berkley to participate in an area of mutual interest in the Western San Joaquin Basin. Participation in the project will involve a multiwell program.
The rationalization will include the adjustment of Westminster's 1999 exploration and development program, with an increased focus on the East Lost Hills and San Joaquin projects.
These changes will allow the company to finance the California projects through existing high netback cash flow generated from its strong Western Canadian natural gas production base and the proceeds generated from the possible disposition of non-core assets. This combination provides a solid financial basis for the company's focus while avoiding dilution of shareholder value in the current market environment.
