AT&T CORP's LIBERTY MEDIA GROUP cable TV programming unit on
Wednesday said it earned more than $2.1 billion in
1998 after logging about $5.1 billion in gains from
the sale of assets. Liberty, acquired by AT&T CORP
earlier this year when the No. 1 long distance
telephone company bought Tele-Communications Inc.,
said in a statement its proforma revenues totaled
$4.8 billion in 1998, compared with $3.9 billion the
prior year, citing improved business among its cable
television interests such as the STARZ! movie
