Interesting, Here's a guy, Hector asking for a little help in switching to a real time broker and the only response he gets from this so called helpful group is, "they are all good just ask them", BOY thats a big help. Why don't you all help him with some worthwhile suggestions? Isn't this what this chat site is about? Just because you've been at this a while, don't you remeber when you first started how difficult it was to find this type of info? Just a thought!

Check out some of SI the threads for the respective brokers:

MB Trading
AB Watley
JPR
Executioner

There may be others.

A good reference list is:

Subject 20613

None of these brokers is perfect, or I haven't found the perfect one yet. I question whether any are even safe for day-trading. It can be hazardous. Screwups seem to happen at the worst times.

I wasn't trying to be a smartass -- just that the hype from managements consistently outshine performance.

I'm still using one of these firms, so I obviously still think they have their advantages, and there's always hope for the future...

Actually, MB, Watley and Cyber are probably the big three, and are known to have some redeeming qualities. JPR and The Executioner have been tarnished lately. RTTrader, Polar, Remote and some others are newer and I really haven't heard much about them. I would advise a close examination of each one's pricing structure because there are major differences. OTOH reliability is worth almost any price (well, not ANY -- but where are you going to find reliability?) In a nutshell.

I also think that lately you've seen more candid criticism on the threads.

Hector, in addition to CyberCorp, MBTrading, etc., you may want to consider Datek. They use Island for order entry. Datek is a mixed bag - execution speed is typically very good and rates are very low ($9.95 for a market or limit order). Downside is flexibility, analytical tools and data. Their analytical tools are not streaming and they only have a minor real-time data feed called "Streamer" (it's pretty bogus).

I've been thinking about switching to CyberCorp (CyberTrader). They have impressive analytical tools and order entry. But, I've heard mixed reviews about confirmation speed. Also, their rates are high ($20 per order). Finally, they charge $250 per month for real-time, streaming data until you reach 100 orders per month. It's a little pricey. On the other hand, it might be worth it.

I use Datek as a broker, but use QCharts from Quote.com for real-time, streaming data and analysis. Things are changing quickly at Datek and CyberCorp. I think I'm going to stick with Datek for the next month or so, and then review the situation.

Good luck and regards,

Dan.
