Analysts give CDMA biggest PCS footprint

WASHINGTON—Personal communications services 1900 MHz networks
using Code Division Multiple Access technology lead in terms of
radio-frequency footprint, according statistics released by The Strategis
Group.

As of March, CDMA systems covered 10.4 percent of the U.S. geography,
followed by Global System for Mobile communications systems with 7.3
percent coverage and Time Division Multiple Access PCS systems, which
cover 6.2 percent of the country's geography, said Strategis.

‘‘Coverage is a key factor driving competition and consumer satisfaction,''
said Elliott Hamilton, senior vice president for North American Telecom at
Washington, D.C.-based Strategis. ‘‘Geography footprint only tells half of
the story.

‘‘Another important indicator is population coverage,'' continued Hamilton.
‘‘CDMA leads here as well, although TDMA and GSM have similar
population coverage.''

Ericsson CEO says no further changes on
W-CDMA

STOCKHOLM, Sweden—L.M. Ericsson Chief Executive Officer
Sven-Christer Nilsson today said Ericsson remains committed to wideband
Code Division Multiple Access as the leading global third-generation
standard for new spectrum with no further changes to the recommended
European and Japanese W-CDMA standards to avoid further delays.

Ericsson purchased Qualcomm's cdmaOne infrastructure division late last
month and entered into a royalty bearing license agreement for all
CDMA-based technologies, including cdmaOne and cdma2000 technologies.

Ericsson said it will continue to advocate strongly the co-existence of two
groupings of technologies for the next-generation of mobile phone systems:
EDGE, as per Europe and the Universal Wireless Communications
Consortium, and CDMA.

Ericsson said the CDMA grouping accommodates three optional modes:
Frequency Division Duplex direct-spread CDMA, as per Europe and Japan,
with a chip rate of 4.096/3.84 Megachips per second according to global
operators' harmonized proposal; multicarrier cdma2000 as per the
Telecommunications Industry Association, with a chip rate of 3.68 Mcps;
and Time Division Duplex as per Europe, harmonized with China's
TD-SCDMA proposal.

Secretary Daley and his counterpart signed an agreement for the first time to allow foreign commercial deployment of the CDMA technology

It would be very interesting to know how much money, directly and indirectly, came from Q and people with money in Q, and went to the Clinton's and the Democratic party the last 6 years.

If you "follow the money" after the Clinton's leave office, I am sure you will see some rich payoffs to them and the Democrats on this issue.

I don't blame Q, or even in a way, the Clinton's and the Political Party involved.

If you need trade help from the Gov, you will have to pay for it. It is part of the system.
