I can think of a few reasons for jumping on late in the day:

a) to close a short position taken that same morning as a day trader;

b) if highly leveraged, to evaluate the margin position on the rest of one's portfolio before consuming buying power. I.e. if trying to skate as close to the edge of margin requirements as possible;

c) in the belief that liquidity tends to be highest the first few and last few minutes of the day, or in the contrary belief that the market is least efficient when folks are packing up to go home.

JMHO, of course.

Dennis, I'm not sure it matters to me whether we have a slight sell-off tomorrow. As a long, I am unconcerned about daily fluctuations and prefer to focus on what I perceive to be much bigger things not too far down the road. I cannot help but feel that the split, coupled with the perfect timing of three strong analyst's recommendations yesterday (Lehman, Merrill and Morgan) projecting targets as high aa $170 pre-split bode well for this stock.

Peace.
