Now I understand. I used to sell broadband network systems in the late 80's (WangNet) and what the c-modem really is is a tuner. It is tuned to the frequency over which ethernet signals are being transmitted. The e-net card is thus attached to an ethernet LAN.

Absolutely, positively FALSE. It is a modem in every sense of the word. I've seen that in the press before by some supposedly techno-savvy journalists. It's wrong.
