Hey, at least he (Madhur) only posts (about StockTax) to appropriate threads.

I think it's a tough call - this is not the typical spam that I see spread all over the place in threads about stocks. He's not posting it on IBM and MSFT and INTC and...

I see that he posts on a thread that is there to support his software, on a tax-related thread, and on some brokerage threads.

All of the posts seem personalized, so I'm not sure I'd call it "spam".

I'm kinda in the same position, as I have a couple of little "helper" apps that I've written that I ocassionally mention. (Though I currently don't charge for either of them.) My SuperExpress for Datek is one of a number of fast data-entry web pages for accessing Datek's Express servers. stockclub.com And my Scammer is an application for use with RealTick III that handles large lists of stocks. (Similar to SortWiz, though, admittedly, not as nice - one day I WILL get back to developing this - in fact, I am working on a very specialized version of this for a client right now, and some of the non-proprietary stuff will leak back into Scammer) stockclub.com

See how I slipped those plugs in? :)

Anyhoo, if I see either of these being discussed or asked-about I'll usually point people in the right direction, to my web pages, and to the discussion threads here called "Datek Web Pages" and "RealTick III Users" and try to step back. Sometimes it's tough, though, because people sometimes start asking questions, and of course I'd like to answer them.

And I *do* post on other threads...

There has been a bit more about this software than I'd like, but I think it's being done with honest intentions. I really doubt the guy will get rich off of it. perhaps just pointing people to the other thread when they ask questions would suffice, though.

And, oh, yes, I'm about to check it out myself (haven't done taxes yet, and don't want to repeat last year's experience!) and will report back - on the right thread, of course!

No offense meant, I can see your point and apologize if you (and others) felt offended, although I wouldn't go as far at to call it Spam, because the posts were related to the subject matter...
I am the author and have not hidden the connection to Osoft.

Cheers,
