Jim: Key Points From DELL's Upbeat Meeting:

<<Merrill Lynch / Steve Milunovich / 4/8/99

--In our view the direct model will be the dominant model in the PC market yet DELL only has a small 9 % share. The company believes the Internet is the single greatest gift ever given to it. We continue to believe DELL will gain share.

--We believe the growth opportunities the company outlined sustain its current growth rate.

--The Quarter appears to be going well and we maintain our estimate of $0.16 per share.

--DELL has discussed venturing into the consumer market, which we believe has scared investors. The company insisted that it does make a good profit in that market.

--We got the sense that DELL feels IBM should be out of the PC business, would like IBM to re-sell DELL branded PC's but it is not that interested in selling IBM branded PC's to IBM. At this point, we think the likelihood of a DELL/IBM PC deal is relatively low.

--We maintain our Long Term Buy rating on DELL shares.>>

Any thoughts?....it sounds fair to me...

Scott
