FROM GAME INFORMER:

Acclaim With ECW?

04.08.99
WWF Attitude is going to be Acclaim's last dance with the WWF license, but
it appears that Acclaim isn't quite ready to job it in the ring quite yet.

To quote Acclaim's CEO, Greg Fischbach, from a recent conference call: "We
will launch a new wrestling series in our next fiscal year. That is one of the
ways that we will address the loss of the [WWF] license."

Now, far be it from the staff here at GI to speculate, but let's do some
backstage booking here. THQ has WWF, EA has WCW, who does that
leave? Well, let's see...we suppose Acclaim could go and make a wrestling
game with all fictional wrestlers, or motion capture one of the many local
wrestling leagues that have about 500 fans, or it could license the nation's
number three league (and cult favorite), ECW. Acclaim could also license out
individual wrestlers, like Sabu, Sid, Taz, and Mr. Whole F'n Show himself,
Rob Van Dam. It wouldn't officially be an ECW game, but to the fans it may
as well be.

ECW may not be as well known as the big two, but let's face it - if people
hear there's a wrestling game where people get thrown through two tables,
and wrestler's prefer chair shots and leaping off balconies to an arm-bar
takedown, aren't they going to check it out?

So we're not saying that Acclaim will definitely go with ECW, but if it or
another company doesn't soon, we only have one drunken ECW fan chant to
yell at ya. "You f'd up! You f'd up! You f'd up! You f'd up!"
