Matt, in your post you say, I believe, that the drill has covered 800 meters and is currently 800 meters away from 98-01. Can you confirm this as it would perhaps help to clarify George's point that the pads were not built in anticipation of drilling. I don't think that they would have done this but stranger things are possible.

The Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources (QMNR) monitors the cutting and disposing of timber very closely. First of all, you have to submit a plan to the QMNR through a forestry engineer in order to get their approval for building roads etc. Then you have to cut the timber according to the plan you submitted and carefully stack the wood so that it can be salvaged later by one of the local lumber companies. With such tight control (forced on the exploration industry by wasteful practices in the 1970's and early 1980's) I doubt that Nuinsco would antagonize the QMNR by cutting numerous unused drill pads.
