Imagine yourself being the head of IT and trying to tell Jack Welch that you are switching all of the GE systems over to a Linux platform.

I have seen several IT managers careers on the rocks because they tried to save too much money!! I have seen none ruined for spending lots of much money on tried and true platforms.

"this would be the last image you have of [Jack Welch] as you head for the unemployment line."

is head of IT at Burlington Coat Factory in trouble?

clothing retailer Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corp. to buy 1,250 desktop PCs running Linux as its operating system software.

regards

Mr. Teflon---

Reread my message. Linux is a *Damper* on NT *growth*.. That is, it prevents NT from moving into some new environments.

The correct analogy is being heat of IT and telling Jack Welch that we are not switching over to NT for our servers.
