They would be unable to see what problems your home connection might have. I would assume that most of the problems are related to difficulties with getting an ethernet card up and running but I'm sure a significant amount of pitfalls still lie in the coax situation in individual homes. If that is frequent a source of difficulty the effort and cost would be wasted in setting up installation centers. I also think many consumers would find that unplugging their cpu from all those cables and lugging it somewhere is kind of unappealing. I think the future will be retail or even pc packaged sales of cable modems and home installation by consumers who are reasonably network savvy.
