Thought I would give a heads up on a company I just purchased yesterday (in at .12, .13 and .14). All other post will be to the ANC site...just thought I would grab some peoples attention with a little hype (wrist slap). Company is ANC on the ASE - ANGOSS SOFTWARE. (http://www.angoss.com/) Today they hit a 2 months high of .15 on big volume for this stock (202,000 shares). They are in the data mining software business which is a multi-billion dollar a year growing industry. During the past 8 months insiders have bought 2,331,000 shares and have not sold a single share. What caught my eye was a statement in their annual report released last week (on sedar sedar.com ) stating that they will be releasing KnowledgeXploreer this year which will enable browser based data mining via the internet. Along with this they are putting out two other new products aimed at users of Microsoft Excel and Access. The Excel program is getting released this month. None of this information about new products has been released in formal news releases yet and is only mentioned in the annual report. It looks like this company earnings are also turning around. Earnings for Nov 30, 1998 where +.04/share Year End Earnings 98 earnings +.01/share share price .08 (on day of release) 97 earnings -.07/share share price .15 (on day of release) 96 earnings -.10/share share price .32 (on day of release) 95 earnings -.19/share share price .45 (on day of release) 94 earnings -.36/share share price .77 (on day of release) This quarters earnings should be out in the next 2-3 weeks. Their business relationships are impressive to say the least- e.g Chase Manhattan, Microsoft, IBM, Allstate, Oracle, Compaq, PricewaterhouseCoopers, GMAC, Hummingbird, etc. The presently have $1.8 million in cash. However to sweeten the deal in Dec 97 ANC won a lawsuit award worth $8.9 million against Trifox of Campbell, California. This money has not been received by ANC yet and does not show up on its books. My first big worry was that ANC would not be able to collect their money after TRIFOX's appeal failed. However from the annual report (March 26, 1999) "the company has obtained financial statements for TRIFOX, confirming that its business is currently viable and profitable". In January, 1999 the Company received a cash offer from TRIFOX to settle the litigation, which the company rejected . To turn down a cash offer ANC must be fairly sure it is going to win the case and be able to collect the full amount. Also from the annual report it was mentioned that on March 12, 1999 TRIFOX appealed the decision and it will take several months before they ANC gets their money. Also from the annual report "Management of the company has been advised that the likelihood of a successful appeal by TRIFOX is remote" Just winning the lawsuit alone would mean .15/share in cash. I posted my DD to the thread and hope I can get other people to contribute to the thread.
