I just finished the May "Money" issue, about tech stocks. ORCL wasn't a major tech mentioned as a "buy", but the reporter (and several interviewees) made some great points. For example, you rarely buy a company that is in the "midst" of the current (internet) craze, you buy companies that supply the goods to that industry. ORCL was mentioned by several interviewees as a primary provider to the internet. And LE has made that abundantly clear. Y2K fears, money shifting to internet investment, etc., are all BS. They may be causing the short term drift down....but ORCL remains healthy and well placed to make money into the future - unlike many others (I'm still not convinced about AMZN, I think they will crash in the summer).
BTW, one interesting note from an interviewee who works in a "side" industry that gave her insight into coming trends: she said SAP would be a good investment after it hits a bottom. I don't follow SAP, but I may start.
