Maybe a better solution is when the security system armed, it transmits the car's location; then the GPS transmits a brief signal every 15 minutes

The problem is that you (speaking generically) forget to turn the damn thing off when you use it and an alarm is sent to the police. Happen 95 out of 100 times on this type of alarm system. That's why home alarms are such a joke.
