Hi Mark, All,

Re winning new ESDRAM business

The problem with regard to entering new segments as most
already are aware is "density" & "multiple sourcing"...
so Sikes stated in a recent release that they are working
on it... while I haven't got a clue as to what critical
manufacturing issues there are to consider my
"feeling" - as also indicated in the Sharky discussion
of HSDRAM - is that ESDRAM is an extension of proven
technologies and thus manufacturing should pose less of
a problem than DRDRAM (maybe some tech-savvy
lurkers could for once please fill in here...) also, some
Taiwanese fab recently aquired advanced DRAM process technology
from IBM - and process compatibilty was discussed here some time
last year I believe -

Perhaps, things are slowly falling into place...

BTW

Oh Sikes also said something about having to educate OEMs... I
realized what an important task this would be when I was at
CEBIT and asked a couple of cos. about ESDRAM... they thought I
was ME MAD II...they never heard of it - but one Asian company was very interested and made a note of Ramtron....
