Is this from the playwright, Harold Pinter?

He should know that no self respecting American would say arse, even though Eliza Doolittle would.

But he's absolutely right. Question to anyone....what would you think of Americans if you grew up anywhere else? Not America, the fact that they want to move here doesn't mean they like Americans. Personally, if I grew up outside of the US, I'd think we were a bunch of unsophisticated grandiose buffoons.

Well, if this is the nail in the UN's coffin, good riddance. I'll be at the funeral to throw the last handful of earth. The UN has been, like its predecessor the League of Nations, an unmitigated failure from the very start. I would argue that is almost useless as a body save the possibility of giving politicians the chance to award UN diplomacies to friends. What else does it do besides serve as a huge cash sinkhole and a cocktail club for political hangers-on? It certainly has failed miserably in its stated purpose, to provide an outlet to avoid conflict. This century has continued to be the bloodiest in history, with no end in sight. It is inefficient, ineffectual, inept, and just about any other in- word you can think of. Its functions are just as easily conducted with shuttle diplomacy. As a matter of fact, shuttle diplomacy conducted (predictably) under the initiative of individual nations inevitably is quicker, more productive, and a hell of a lot cheaper. It is a pathetic organization with no power or authority to back up its lofty goals and resolutions and it inevitably falls back to individual national projection of power (albeit in UN blue helmets) to carry out its dictates. What would we miss without this mess of an organization?
