Does the pricing argument also apply to INTC? I mean if you used that logic 15 years ago your opportunity cost (if u didn't get long) or your losses (if u were short) would be quite large.

JB, not sure I get your point. INTC got out of the DRAM business in the eighties for exactly that reason. DRAM became a commodity and pricing was cut throat. INTC was losing money on every unit they built. So they focused on x86 where they had barriers to entry, were setting the proprietary standards, and the market was exploding. Otherwise there would be no INTC today.
