stock bull....not upset...takes more than that.. not a game, when money is concerned...at least not my money... just trying to allow "real life" logic and business acumen to attempt to open the eyes of those that only read that which is written by those who are less astute than the ones they critique.... i am a ceo...true...i own an oil service business...we were active in the china sea for fifteen years...in october 97, analysts, with much more education than i, recommended oil service firms, as a hedge, due to upset of world economies and higher oil prices....in march of the same year, we pulled off of the platforms as esso production malaysia and petronas terminated contracts due to "problems".... so who do you believe...one who has "real" knowledge or one who "perceives" a situation...i'll put my money on the former.. as andrew grove has stated, a business reaches a "strategic inflection" point...where if change is not made, the business falls behind.. loss of china sea hurt revenues....but expertise in gas turbine and power generation allowed us to make a seamless transition to domestic utility service of peaking turbines....didn't grow revenues, swapped dollars...but met the "strategic inflection" that was posed.. if you are to accrue wealth in business, life, and investing, you can only do so with knowledge, lack of knowledge equates to fear, which in itself is an unstabilizing factor..dell is brilliant as a company...for it meets the strategic inflection points and blows by them...doesn't enter a market such as sub 1k pcs for there is no margin or purpose...others did and all failed..." never engage in a battle that you can't win"..(sun tsu)... ....perhaps michael dell won't admit it, but his business model and style is not "new"...it is quintessential post war japanese, from "bto" to "the book of five rings"...a samurai form of business.. learn from those who have achieved...admire the success stories of the dell's, grove's, gate's, iaccocoa's.....and not be critical as if a monday morning quarterback...if you have not the ability in you to scramble as the defensive line rushes... good luck, ed a.
