That must have been some experience!

I have often wondered at the visceral reaction I get to music. And more's the wonder that there are people who seem immune. Maybe mine is the savage breast, although I haven't savaged anyone for years.

In all the hours I've spent at the Red Lion Inn, I haven't enjoyed such a moment, Steven. I envy you!

Speaking of fiddling, one of the greatest experience I had was at Jaime Laredo's NY debut. He was playing a Christmas concert at Carnegie Hall, and in the middle of a Vivaldi violin concerto a string pops on his instrument. The first violin picked up the part, Laredo calmly walked over to one of the violinists in the orchestra, took the violin, nodded at the first violin and resumed playing. Had you had your eye closed you would simply have heard a pop, but the music would have gone on as if nothing had happened.
