Paul, is there another rating company?

I seem to recall buying a corporate bond 2 years ago from either Ford or another company. I definitely recall running the balance sheet etc. through my software which calculates around 40 different financial ratios and everything came up looking okay. The rating company gave this particular company a B or B+ rating. And I was left with the impression the rating company was being quite conservative in giving the company a B rating. In fact, it almost left me with the general impression a B rating wasn't too bad.

But I bet if I were to run AMD's balance sheet through this same software, things wouldn't look quite as good. They have a lot of debt, etc. Yet, it appears they received a B rating? So, I don't get it. Maybe there are two different rating companies with different standards?
