Non-paying members on SI do see ads ... And I know for a fact there are more non-paying people just reading through the messages (and ads), not contributing much to the written stuff :-)

Humbly report, Ron, one way you can see SI the way the "rest of 'em" see it - even when you're a member logged on - is from here: go2net.com

Access SI from there.

Loosen your seat belt, and have a pleasant voyage.

Go2Net, your journey is our trip! --M.D. ;-)

Cheers,

Svejk

There are plenty of banners on the public SI pages, the front page of go2net and SI, and all the other great sites including the Metacrawler page. I seem to remember someone posting a long time ago on this thread that Russell had promised no ads on individual post pages. This is a forum, not a portal page. The loading time will slow the posting down way too much in my opinion. Sometimes quick posts are important - especially if you are trying to read hundreds quickly. Ever notice the load time on the CBS Marketwatch pages? Great site, takes forever to load. In a fast moving market like we are in, there is no time to wait for banners to come in. I'm a DCLK holder too - all for online advertising. Just not here.
