Moving shares in your account from Cash to Margin with no notification.

That's a very nice E*Trade feature I just happened to discover when calling to complain about another problem. On Tuesday, a stock I own became marginable. Apparently, after the open today E*Trade automatically put those shares on margin with no authorization from me. This time I will write to the SEC. Somehow, I don't think that changing an account so E*Trade can charge you margin interest is legally done without client authorization/notification from E*Trade.

The original problem, by the way, is that I am being refused trading when I place an order, despite the fact that there is more than enough money in my account.

Nice touch.

Cheers,
Bond
