Chris,

Failure of embedded chips are going to be the biggies. I walked in my kitchen last night in the dark and counted a dozen or so digital devices. A portable infusion pump crashed at work as we tried to set the clock to read 01/01/2000, wouldn't do it. A portable EKG machine reverted back to 01/01/1900. Both of these machines were purchased new in Dec, 1998!

Most of the hospitals I work with including the Columbias run Windows 95, NT 4.0 and some even run Dos programs. Hospitals are imbedded chip havens and not many are doing anything about it. The nursing homes are going to be a catastrophe because they don't have the funds to become Y2k compliant. Be sure to rescue granny for the new year. The personal injury and medical malpractice lawyers are gonna have a field day. I wish Robert Sowah would design a Y2K compliant package/model, specifically for these healthcare facilities.
