de, the competition between Intel and AMD has been good in that it has driven PC prices down and accelerated growth for the Internet. But it has driven up CPUs speeds ahead of their time, confusing end users, software developers, and boxmakers alike.

With the time between generations so short, there's precious little time for innovation. As a result, we're seeing lots of "me too" products at ever-descreasing prices and profit margins. IMHO, it would be generally beneficial if Intel regained some pricing power at the low end and gave the PC industry a chance to catch its breath.
