Michael,

Your note about toxicity reminded me of a tech co. ad I saw the other day. About how these huge polluters were developing a chip to save the environment, but then somebody says, "who cares? Can we play games better with it?" <g>

The story behind those ads is pretty interesting. TDFX, the company in question, is attempting a branding strategy ala Intel. TDFX is well known to the gaming crowd as the maker of top performance 3D accelerators. So they are investing $20 million on those ads which appeal to their core customers, who know about them anyway. I am not even sure where they get the idea that expensive TV ads can sell 3D accelerators. The market is saturated and highly competitive and they have decided to burn cash. IMO, when the final total is posted, the cost per additional sale is going to look pretty nasty.
