TD,
Don't let "reporters" get your emotions up. Like Bulldozer stated, and I reinforce, they don't have a clue as to what VTSS's actual products are/do. Don't let the short term blip get your blood pumping, unless you've been looking to buy cheaper, then you're getting the chance now.

When VTSS fell from the high 30s to the high teens last year, there were numerous "reporters" coming out with negative "visibility" issues. At first glance, people will say "hey! LU's bookings are down". But what the CEO made perfectly clear, those same bookings are now coming from different companies, LU's contractors.

The press love statements like "LU's bookings will be down". They will use statements taken out of context to sell newspapers or their services.

Don't let it get you down. If you are in for the long haul, add on weakness and, if you are a trader type, sell the strength. If you sell the strength, be ready to buy back in, or you might be left at the starting gate.

Best of luck,
Michael

One other thought. Look at what the analysts who follow the company have been saying. While there are words of caution, none of them have lowered their targets or earnings expectations, at least none that I've seen. Targets of 65 in 6 to 12 months. 75 in 12 months.

Let's look at the percentage returns that those numbers offer. 65 is about 30% higher. 75 is 50% higher. Not a bad return in 6 to 12 months.

If those typeof returns aren't good enough, then I strongly suggest selling VTSS.

just my opinion,
Michael

you are right that the writer is a reckless moron to fasten on lower LU bookings without catching that Tomasetta said those bookings should (or did he say "will"?) appear as bookings from the contract manufacturers.
but my question - and you are the only one who addresses it - is whether those contractors must use vtss chips. in my ignorance i don't know whether vtss is the only firm that designs or can design those chips. will it be vtss chips or chips such as those designed by vtss that lucent will specify.

Dudes,

LU is outsourcing to one company which does not use GaAs.

Does SiGe ring bell to anyone? Wait for IBM announcement soon.
