Pretty good. The Treaty of Versailles was punitive and destroyed any possibility of restoring the European and world economy. J.M. Keynes wrote a scathing book (The Economic Consequences of the Peace) predicting many of the later problems. There were revisions, but the U.S. ended up lending money to every one, who then used it to repay the reparations to France and Britain, who then used it to repay U.S. loans, etc. The German economy collapsed twice, and Hitler campaigned and won on promises to renounce and ignore the Versailles Diktat. Its obvious injustice was a major cause of his success.
