Nigel: Thanks for the pointer. Won't make the hurdle, but may lead to something that will some day. Again, I (and others, I'm certain) appreciate the pointers. Let's spend some time looking at prospecti, as they are about to hit in droves. Let's compare this year's with last year's, and see if we can identify funds/entities that are bailing.......iqc.com Corning Incorporated One Riverfront Plaza Corning, NY 14831................................. 2,875,081(2) 14.93% Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. 250 Vesey St. World Financial Center N. Tower New York, NY 10289................................ 1,724,000(3) 8.95% D.E. Shaw Investment Group L.P. 120 W. 45th St. 39th floor Tower 45 New York, NY 10036................................ 1,274,579(4) 6.62% Wellington Management Company, LLP 75 State Street Boston, MA 02109.................................. 1,015,200(5) 5.27% ************************* Shaw reported 1,274,579 shares (no change) on 6/22/98. Corning registered 2,875,081 shares (no change) on 7/8/98. Merrill Lynch filed 5/8/98 in one of those confusing filings (Princeton Services, ML Asset Management, and ML Growth Fund) for what looks like 1,291,500 shares (I could use some help here). They filed again 2/4/99 for the entire 1,724,000 shares. Wellington filed 2/9/99 for the 1,015,200 shares. From the S-4/A, filed 5/8/98....... Corning Incorporated.................. 2,875,081 15.3% One Riverfront Plaza Corning, New York 14831 D.E. Shaw Investment Group, LP........ 1,274,578 6.8% 120 West 45th Street, 30th Floor New York, NY 10036 The Corning Museum of Glass........... 555,924 3.0% One Museum Way Corning, New York 14830 For the '97 proxy, Institutional Venture Partners was listed for 873,100 shares and Schering-Plough for 764,248 shares. These are under the 5% reporting limit, so I don't know if they still hold them. It is likely, IMO, that these are a portion of the shares that ML or Wellington (or both) acquired. Anybody remember if Schering bailed? The Museum of Glass shares.... any guesses? I'll bet that IVP bailed. No surprise if they did.
