re: TURF - Joe

Would I do that to you? :-)

Serious -- What kind of credibility would I have if I only posted the ones that spiked and left out the ones that didn't? Those were the calls he made today. I can live with a 5-10% gain every day.

I've been thinking more about this situation. When a big brokerage house upgrades/downgrades a stock, a lot of people internally are involved and word almost always leaks out.

Joe works alone. Despite the fact that he has explicitly said that he will purchase stock before he makes his call and will sell stock while his "subscribers" are still buying (but his capital is limited), there seems little room for leaking. As long as Joe is the only one front-running, the status quo remains. The only problem may arise if he starts having an inner circle who gets the word before everyone else does and then a lot of people dump stock right after his call -- then the spikes may start disappearing.

It's a fairly interesting situation -- yet another new phenonmenon arising out of the internet.

(Again, I have no opinion on Joe's ability as a stock-picker. I am simply commenting on the influence his picks have on stocks.)
