Goldbug,
You can never tell about the nets. They march to a different drummer. However, this could start a tech market correction.
I'm going to have to contemplate my Compaq sins at this point.

GG: Lets have a little perspective here. The pig will fall deeper into the slimy mud hole. But it's not, in my opinion, going to drag the entire tech sector down there with it. Remember, this little baby has been soiling itself for awhile now; much of the shortfall has been priced in already. Strong and in-line earnings elsewhere in the sector should compensate for what the Fyfe & Drum corpse have presented us with here.
Personally, I feel like an idiot. I was quite sure that there would be no repeat of last year's prevarication and incompetence. To all: I was wrong. M2

I concur, the nets have a behavoir all their own---the problem is not a lack of demand for PCs,it is the profit margins are getting ever thinner for PC makers, this has no bearing on the nets--plus with CPQ
we have to seriously question the competency of the management--Max90
