Ibexx - Isn't it weird when the breaking news mirrors our analysis?

CPQ! They did this last year! They stuff the channel to make the Christmas number and botch up Q1! I would think that there would have been some kind of "Post-Mortum" last year to address this problem....I'm going to quit now, pop a cold one, and try to cool down.

P.S., I noticed the server problem too. Seemed to get it fixed relatively quickly.

Hi Ibexx,

I agree. You miss earnings by 50% and you don't notice till a quarter past April ? I guess it's a wonder they even figured it out at all.

Two things from their press release:

(1)"... said its first-quarter earnings will
be about half analyst forecasts because of plummeting personal
computer prices."

If this is the real reason, Intel will be relatively unaffected, since they have recently shown control over the sales price to cost at the low end.

(2) "Compaq blamed sluggish demand for its products..."

This may be a problem , if true.

Best Trading,
X

ibexx, it's no secret i'm not a big EP fan. I've been slamming the guy since i can remember. imo, he's made very poor strategic decisions (teaming up with the likes of DEC and AMD to start with) and his arrogance shows by trying to reduce his dependence on Intel.

boy, Intel can't catch a break. Splitting on Monday where most likely all techs will get slammed! I'm guessing Intel will trade $60-$65 for a while. Hope there is no surprises on tues. night.
