Smart man.

I suspect that there are lawyers you can trust, but it's probably relative. No one cares about you as much as you do. I think you have a right to decide how the case will proceed, but it's suicide to try to micro-manage, unless you really know the law. If you didn't authorize the agreement, you had an excellent beef against the lawyer.

Almost impossible to get out of his unauthorized agreement, depending on the judge. Some are iconoclasts, some are traditionalists. Iconoclasts think that no unauthorized agreement is binding.
