NASDAQ will be very weak next week. Intel will probably come out with bearish outlooks on their p 3 chips. Nice nasdaq jolt is coming everybody.

I've just read back and am impressed by some of the construcive comments. For those interested in clutching at straws can I offer a few thoughts:

(1) Often, when a company makes a statement likes this, it gets all the bad news out. It cannot afford to be even worse when the official earnings are reported. Often, the official earnings are slightly better than the warning. Kumar may be nearer than he thinks with his 20 cents. Perhaps it will be 17-18 cents.

I find the information puzzling. Revenues of that scale should produce greater than 15 cents a share, and then there is the $2.9 billion available in tax credits.

(2) Perversely, when the other shoe drops, as in this case, the market relaxes, because it knows the worsed. This prepares the ground for subsequent positive news and share recovery. Not only were most of us wrong, but nearly all the analysts and commentators and "insiders". They will all be trying to make sense of it on Monday.

(3) If it restricts itself to a 5-6 drop, I would think that all who are not forced by margin calls, should be able to get back to current levels within 4-6 weeks. Then a reassessment can be done.

On the negative side, the drop on Monday could be exarcerabted by a general market correction brought on by COMPAQ's announcement. The one good thing about a Friday night timing is that it gives the market time to reflect and act rationally.

Good night.
