I hope that CPQ brings it back down so I can buy more....my cost basis is only $27. My concern is my recent long position in DELL. Hope it doesn't get pummeled too bad Monday

Don't agree Sarg. CPQ has been stagnate for quite a long while, do you really think this has come as a big surprise? I don't. I think a lot of CPQ money will head to DELL.

SGT.
I'm not sure about the impact of CPQ on the market. From what I understand about the sector, the sub $1000.00, and I guess now the sub $600.00 PC, is where the action is. E-machines, for example, is supposed to be going gangbusters. From what I heard on the tube, CPQ got hurt in its sales to business. I found the following on the CPQ thread as well:

Kumar is slamming Compaq's management for the problem..."Lack of credibility"....says Compaq's problems are company-specific....he expects Intel to be better-than-expected....Expects Dell to meet consensus .16 and 40% y-o-y revenue gain..

Kumar has been on the mark in analyzing the box builders for quite a while now. We'll have to see on Monday.

Our only hope is that moeney flowing out of PC Tech goes to Telecom Tech or Net Tech

It's already flowing over to the Nets and has been for a while. About two weeks ago the ATHM thread was over run by CPQ refugees. PCs don't want to be just cheap, they want to be FREE. There is no margin in free.
I asked my brother-in-law if he buys Compaq for the company he buys computers for....he said that Compaq makes it almost impossible for him to buy from them directly. They are still protecting their distribution channels. Old world thinking in a networked world.
