I am impressed that you disassembled your new charger. I am impressed also that your charger has an I.C. on board. Does the charger automatically shut off when voltage peaks?

After reading your post I just had to tear my $5.00 NiCad charger apart. It had 5 NiCad batteries included 3 of which still worked. Mine has 3 voltage taps supplying 360 mA at 1.2 V or 2.4 V and 10 mA at 9 V. There were 16 diodes 5 big resistors (2 that looked scorched I won't use that side anymore! ) and 27 small ones.

Nick Fetchenko is selling the new batteries which have the 1500 mAh capacity. I wonder if his have the separators that virtually eliminate the self discharge annoyance?

It continues to amaze me that despite the superior qualities of NiMH batteries they are comparatively difficult to obtain and the charger that Radio Shack was trying to sell me with theirs was only a timed circuit.
