TMAC: Good laugh. I have been surfing the net threads to to try and understand how the mob investor thinks. The split rationale one of my favorites. BTW, it was the Globe.com that went up 40% or so on the split announcement. This baby came public at $90 and cratered until it got the split juicer. Bob commented on this baby earlier in the year. Hope he addresses this split nonsense this weekend.

Anybody who runs across a clueless internet post, bring it over here. We should try to understand how these folks operate because they are not going away. The increase in on-line investing and trading will make these folks a permanent part of the investment landscape. Sure, some will be taken out and shot only to be replaced with others who come on-line.

Any chance of the split being changed to 3 or 4 for 1?
Or is this too much paperwork for the weekend?

They are a passionate group. I have a friend who put less than $30,000 into CMGI a couple years ago and now has $550,000 as of late last week per his email to me. The CMGI'ers believe the stock will be an 8 - 10 bagger from here in the next 5 - 7 years.

That to me is a huge risk. I would rather stay with my Berkshire which I think will be a 4 bagger in the next 8 - 10 years.

He keeps asking me when I am going to buy. I would only think of buying two internet stocks (CMGI and AOL) and only if we get a nice correction. Even then I would only put a small amount of money into them. Just enough to possibly tweak the whole portfolio return.

This run will continue even if/after we get a correction in 1999. There are just too many people jumping on the bandwagon.
