Mohan,

Note that CPQ said that commercial sales were weak, not consumer sales. It is precisely in this segment that CPQ is up against DELL (among others), whereas the consumer sector is one that CPQ has less of a fight against DELL. DELL executives promised to drop margins to improve revenue after last quarter and reported good results with that change in strategy this week. So, I guess I agree with Ashok Kumar here. :-)

I hope MSD takes your advice and comes out with a press release on Monday. I am sure he and his team are working overtime on this one. I don't think we can take another nose-dive, right when we have reason to believe that Dell will meet and hopefully exceed earnings for 1st Quarter.

MOhan:
Appreciate your great comments in E-mail to Dell.
The Press to be fair should give Michael a chance to comment on
Cpq's problem.

<< My only request to you is please don't keep silent and let Compaq call the shot for Dell on Monday or any day for that matter, it has been happening too often.......>>

Mohan: Way to go....I agree with your approach....thanks for emailing MSD. He welcomes feedback. IMHO, it is VERY important for DELL to have proactive PR so that the market place can put things in perspective. You either define who you are and where you are going OR...you will be defined (by the press, pundits, ANALysts, etc...).

DELL will RISE again.

Best Regards,

Scott

Mohan

Anyway I just sent an email to Dell,it went something like this,I don't know, you guys may want to consider it if deemed appropriate.

I respectfully disagree.

Michale has already spoken regarding the quarter. If he makes a strong statement now It will backfire, if Dell delivers less than blowout earnings.

Without a strong statement simply meeting estimates will look like blowout, and we will soar.

What we need is strong earnings from Intc Tuesday.

Just my opinion

Best wishes

Dear Michael,

As long term DELL stockholders my wife and I would appreciate a strong press release from DELL on Monday stating that other companys' problems are just that and not DELLs'.
