Hot damn Paul-san,got a reply from Dell- It went something like this. :------ Original Message ----- From: xxxx@dell.com To: mohanmarette@earthlink.net Sent: Friday, April 09, 1999 7:13 PMSubject: RE: Compaq's warning & defending Dell's turf . Mohan, We don't report our sales every day or every week. We report them every quarter. Some will understand that when Compaq is doing losing share, Dell is gaining. Others will not understand at least not in the short term. The analysts who cover Dell know how we are doing..... ........... -----Original Message----- From: Mohan Marette [mailto:mohanmarette@earthlink.net] Sent: Friday, April 09, 1999 11:00 PM To: xxxxx@dell.com Subject: Compaq's warning & defending Dell's turf . Dear Michael: On account of Compaq's warning this evening (though forewarned in Feb) I feel like it will be bloody murder for tech stocks come Monday and I am sure you know exactly what I am talking about. If what the press reported yesterday after Dell's analysts meeting is any indication Dell is doing quite well inspite of the industry woes. If this is true I wish Dell comes out with a strong press release and defend their turf. Please don't let Compaq's problems become Dell's problem. Man,every time Dell has any good news to announce these Compaq guys come and screw it up and try to upstage Dell out of desperation. My only request to you is please don't keep silent and let Compaq call the shot for Dell on Monday or any day for that matter, it has been happening too often.
