Rob Grogg;

You have been on this thread and the other thread since last weekend asking the same basic question. Does anyone have a good idea what the earnings report will look like? (nothing wrong with asking it.) Some feel that SEG will be flat-down and others feel it will be higher than expected. The truth is that no one knows. We have heard from some component makers and OEM customers that their sales are down or less robust than expected. Some are showing reduced profits and others are losing money. All of them for individual reasons. I suspect that SEG earnings are likely not to reflect an evironmental situation but to reflect its individual situation too. This is not the DD market of 97-98 where everyone was in the same boat for the same reasons. I also suspect that the DD market is becoming more fragmented than it was last year. Some companies may do well while others don't, for different reasons. Some may have better technology yielding higher margins and others may have better trade agreements with their customers for individual deals. Market shares may keep changing for different types of drives too. Therefore, it is important to pay particular, attention to the news reports. I think, that all of them have some troubles of various kinds. It sounds to me like a normal business environment. We are just used to seeing everybody do very well or very poorly. It might surprise you but that's not normal.
