VRIO, INKT, WCAP, NTBK.. DLJ, ELNK....ATHM Options bought at 4 closed at 6 3/8 * 6 3/8 although like SF, I had only 1/4 of my original position it was enough for good comfortable gains. Last Monday when the website was giving me problems at "0" hour (Sunday night at one point I could not access my own site for either editing or even browsing!) but at 2:00 a.m. the VRIO staff stayed with me for the 1 1/2 hours until they figured out the password problems and straightened everything out. It was perhaps cathartic and I posted that I renewed my optimism and admiration of the company. I should have bought more but then I was 'involved' with NITE and NTBK. I'm glad everyone hung on and, VRIO no longer a PUPPY.. at all. Inktomi (INKT) rocketed 27 9/16, or 26 percent, to a life-time high of 132 3/16. The stock has been on a tear of late as Inktomi's comparable shopping engine is picked up by numerous portal and merchant partners. On Wedensday, the developer of Internet software, said it signed up 5 new portal partners and amassed 2 million products to be sold online through 350 merchants. *********** Verio (VRIO) soared 19, or 40 percent, to 66 1/2 to a life-time high of 61 1/4 after Timothy Weller, an Internet analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin, Jenrette upgraded the internet service provider from buy to "top pick" and raised his price target to $75 a share. ************ Internet bank Net.B@ank (Nasdaq:NTBK - news) gained about 18 percent, continuing a bull streak triggered earlier in the week after it reported opening a record number of new accounts. ************ Winfield Capital (Nasdaq:WCAP - news) closed up 15 3/4 points to a new high of $45 3/4. ************* Service provider EarthLink Network Inc. (Nasdaq:ELNK - news), which rose about 11 percent to around $87. (fourth consecutive day of large gains) ************** Brokers Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) and M.H. Meyerson (MHMY) owe recent gains not only to optimism about first-quarter earnings, but to their own budding online operations. M.H. Meyerson, which plans to launch an online trading unit late this year, jumped 3 1/4, or 68 percent, to 8 during the session. DLJ shares rose 4 3/8 to 82 3/8 as it announced its plan to launch a tracking stock for its online operations, DLJdirect. ************* On a lighter side, DLJ was double good for me because I had the stock options in the company itself just when they upgraded VRIO so I got gains from both ends.
