DELL's problems aren't the same as CPQ's, but
DELL does have its own set of problems.

what sort of problems do you think Dell has?

thanks!

First of all, I'm not a dellhead. I don't own it or CPQ and never will.

I came over to this thread, after taking a ride on the dell & intc threads -- to get a complete view of the PC situation. In this way, I can separate the cheerleaders from those that are unbiased. I am only hear to get a sense of what buying opportunities may exist Monday and Tuesday after all the boxmakers screw up the entire tech sector.

I felt the need to post only because I can't believe the level of denial that everyone is in around here.

I honestly don't understand why anybody wastes their time with EITHER CPQ or DELL...they both operate in an industry that is becoming increasingly commoditized, PC's are working their way down to ridiculously low price levels/lower margins, while at the same time more usefull/flexible net appliances are soon emerging.

However, Dell continues to fire on all cylinders and execute as best it can, while CPQ continues to lead the league in fumbles. Whether you like it or not, the PERCEPTION exists that Dell is taking share from CPQ. CPQ is doing nothing to reverse this perception...in the results they produce and in the shaddy way they tried to slip this announcement out before the weekend (See Cramer's opinion on this...it's on SI somewhere).

Dell will drop Monday. But it will perk up quicker than CPQ. CPQ has just pulled this stunt two many times and is losing credibility rapidly. Will probably bounce around 25-30 for some time...dead money.

If I was to go with a boxmaker, I would pick Dell. But I won't.

Instead, I'll put my money in emerging technology giants such as UNPH, PMCS, and QCOM who will all prosper in a world that does not need to rely on a PC.

That is...after the CPQ fiasco creates a buying opportunity in stocks that fall in sympathy unjustly.

Sorry you are upset.
