Chuzzlewit, can they really be stupid enough to be off on the earnings estimates by tens of millions of dollars for a quarter and not figure it out until 9 days after the quarter is over??? I'm sure they have closed the books by now. I just can't comprehend how they could be that inept. One other question....it doesn't really matter if they are inept or dishonest, does it??? Never mind, don't answer that.

I agree...not a matter of dishonesty. They are simply trying to make the numbers and by getting the channels to buy more, the short term illusion is increased revenue. The ineptness comes from ignoring the natural sales-in, sales-out statistics and thinking that a little short term forcing is OK and the process will correct by itself. It actually has a tendency to get worse if the other market factors make a change at the same time.
