On one level, you are absolutely correct. When it comes to their notebook lines, I see their Prosignia line, for small and medium businesses, as a weak link. This is only my opinion, but right now the catch-all is "multimedia." One can get multimedia in the Presario (home and home office) line and Armada (big business) lines, but not the Prosignia. That the Prosignia line is not geared towards multimedia is not merely my impression--I talked on the phone with someone at CPQ about this and they told me my assumption was correct. The offering from Dell and Gateway that compete with Prosignia notebooks do handle multimedia.

Every magazine review of notebooks I have read has stated the same thing I have thought: the Armada notebooks are VERY expensive for what one gets. Given the price of Armadas, a person--or business--that would normally want to buy a notebook in the Prosignia line is almost forced to go shopping for a comparable priced Dell or Gateway not necessarily because they think the other companies offer better notebooks, but because the Prosignia line does not offer that much: it is the only CPQ notebook line that does not offer port replicators or docking stations, only line that is not made for multimedia. This I do not understand.

A small and medium business, probably more than a large business, pinches pennies and wants to get the most bang for the buck. Buying notebooks an employee can use at the office [with a docking station or port replicator] and on the road is cheaper than buying the employee a desktop for work and a notebook for the road.

Maybe the Prosignia line of desktops is doing well, but I have yet to see any breakdowns for the Prosignia line, notebooks vs. desktops, or just talk about how the Prosignia line of notebooks is doing compared to their other notebook lines.
