Re: "It is bad enough to miss the numbers but to stiff the street the way they did will result in a DEAD MONEY stock. Management has lost ALL CREDIBILITY with respect to their managment skills and their character and that is much worse than just missing their numbers."

Haven't I heard that before, only about a different stock? Maybe it was on the UTEK thread.

Best wishes,

I2

** TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE **

Mark you calendars as Hambrecht and Quist will a technology conference starting on April 26th and running for four days. Forecast provides for more analyst technology humping going into May. Anybody who can find the presenters and schedule of events are invited to post it here

Justa,

>>>
TMAC: Compaq will get clocked on Monday. The 50% shortfall is bad enough, but the timing of the announcement -- nine days into the quarter -- and the lack of a conference call after the announcement will not help. They had to know about this days ago but they elected to announce this on Friday after the close and refused comment via a conference call. Compaq had recently guided the street down to about $.30 so, in effect, they missed a previous preannounce. Two strikes and then stiffing the street with the timing and lack of a conference call? Get ready for the downgrades and get ready for the street to abandon this stock for now. I would not bottom-fish this one unless you wanted to trade it for a couple of bounce points and out . I am not interested in it because there may not be much of a bounce. It is bad enough to miss the numbers but to stiff the street the way they did will result in a DEAD MONEY stock. Management has lost ALL CREDIBILITY with respect to their managment skills and their character and that is much worse than just missing their numbers.

BUT this may provide some opportunities in some stocks via guilt by association.

I will enjoy watching the events on Monday. I remember after the Digital announcement a friend read an article or something that predicted CPQ would be a 10 bagger in the next 8 - 10 years. I remember my response to him, "It would be a cold day in hell when that happens."

There is no way CPQ can beat DELL. The culture, etc. prevent it.

Genius that he is, Brinker saw this and made his famous call on CPQ after the Digital acquisition.
