stockycd...buy at low 40's april 1...sell at 48...foolish?

how much did you really make, after commissions and tax liability...consider all elements...and what size was your position..if the effort was just to net a few thousand, it may be deemed foolish or not worth the effort...if you like dell, and bought in low forties, and your keen sense of the stock movement told you that 48 was a high and it would go to low 30's...why not just write april 40 covered calls...less commission..you know the stock going to 35, call expires worthless, you keep about a $9 premium(at the time) and reduce your cost basis with lower commissions and less tax liability...much better strategy
