Surprise, surprise. CPQ #1 on list of Hot Subjects. My computer has been smoking for some hours now. Got to go to the gym and run off futile frustration.
Later.

TNT,

I'm not an option expert, I defer option questions to NW on this thread or Teflon on the MSFT thread, they are much, much more knowledgeable than I.
My own personal opinion, CPQ options have small premiums due to the lack of volatility, that will change next week due to the bad news of course, after that, it's back to the grind. Even then, CPQ doesn't move in 5 and 6 point swings, the float is really large.

tonyt,
IMHO With this announcement, the option effect will be zero.

IMHO Covered call sellers will cash in Monday or just wait for expiry. Most call buyers can write off the loss. The stock gapping down at the open will kill them. No real chance to close positions, but some will try and might be rewarded with pennies for the effort.

IMHO Put sellers might try to minimize losses Monday. They will be competing with some share holders buying protective puts.

There will be little joy in the option pit for the longs Monday.
